Welcome to the 2nd volume in the still-unnamed poetry series. In Who I Buried Under the Sunflowers and Other Confessions, I explored the budding chaos of the springtime of youth. In A Plague of Hummingbirds, I venture through the summertime of discontent and the loneliness one finds at the end of the world.
A Plague of Hummingbirds is an elegy. These poems are about desolation, extinction, memory, and the ruins we leave behind. Journey through a dead world, beyond the rubble of sunken churches and obliterated cities, past weathered headstones and the rusted bones of industry. My poetry will lead you across sprawling fields of unmarked graves, through the wreckage of what was, toward the uncertainty of what comes next. The road will not be pleasant, but do not fear. Take my hand.
