Marlowe House by Joshua Gamon is a dystopian story that offers an exceptional demonstration of world-building and high-stakes drama while generating thick atmospheric dread. Gamon builds a very grim, frozen, soot-choked environment that skillfully highlights the dark reality of living under complete state control without rights. The story hits the spot between explosive action and the silent inner battles King faces as he gradually opens his eyes to the flaws in the system. The ongoing clash between the regime’s shadow divisions and the hidden network of brave female activists keeps the intrigue high. The plot beautifully navigates key concepts such as freedom, identity, a forbidden romance, and the heavy price of blind loyalty as the capital draws closer to its huge uprising. It’s an exciting ride down a dark alternate-history path. It’s 100% worth a read if you’re looking for a rousing tale of moral awakening and rebellion.

Magical Realism.

Readers' Favorite 5-Star Review

The Brothers Thanatos by Joshua Gamon is an urban fantasy novel with a solid plot and well-rounded characters. Maximilian Thanatos, or Max, was once an agent of a secret society dedicated to protecting ancient mysticism. Now he is a semi-retired detective of the mysterious. However, things changed drastically for him when his brother Charlie became a victim of ritualistic murder. With his soul doomed for eternal damnation, Max did the only thing that could save his brother’s soul: attach it to his body. Only one being could reverse the effects of the murder on Charlie; Lucifer. But finding the Devil was neither easy nor for the faint of heart. The opportunity arose when a fallen angel asked him to find a Nephelium and, in return, the fallen angel would direct Max to the Devil himself. The opportunity was too good to pass up and Max was ready to do whatever it took to save Charlie.

I devoured this novel in one sitting. I was hooked from the get-go and finished the story in just a couple of hours. I loved Max, his sarcasm, and his determination to find a solution for Charlie. I loved how he handled the fallen angel (I will not reveal who it is) and the way he handled the situation was a lot more fun than I anticipated. Charlie was like his second consciousness, always guiding him, advising him, and warning him. Helena, on the other hand, was a mystery and I would love it if Joshua Gamon explores her in future novels. She has a lot of potential and her chemistry with Max was fantastic. The ending was cathartic, to say the least, and it left me with a feeling of satisfaction!
